Beckman Foundation Announces 2019 Beckman Scholars Program Awardees
Thirteen Institutions to Receive Over $1.7 million in Science Funding for Undergraduate Researchers
The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation announced today the selection of its 2019 class of Beckman Scholars Program Awardees, U.S. colleges and universities which underscore the Foundation’s mission of supporting basic research in the chemistry and life sciences. The institutions were selected after a rigorous application process which included a two-part review led by a panel of scientific experts.
“Since the inception of the Beckman Scholars Program in 1978, there have been more than $29 million in awards to over 1,400 undergraduate students through this program, providing each student with a unique 15-month mentored research experience. We’re excited to learn more about the next cohort of Scholars and see them present their early research findings at our upcoming annual Beckman Symposium.
This year’s award is comprised of more than $1.7 million in funding for 68 undergraduate scholars at 13 institutions:

- San Francisco State University
- Santa Clara University
- UCLA
- University of Chicago
- University of Connecticut
- University of Kansas Center for Research, Inc.
