AOB Postdoc Freddy Nguyen Granted US Patent for Development of Fiber Optic-based Benchtop Instrument

2017 AOB Postdoc Freddy Nguyen, MD/PhD was recently granted a US Patent for his work on "Fluorescence-based detection of Protein Aggregation & Fiber Optic-Based Benchtop Instrument." The patent details how hydrogel-encapsulated, label-free fluorescent nanosensors can be used for the characterization of protein aggregation as well as an apparatus for signal detection. The instrument allows for a small, portable form factor that can easily be integrated into various research areas. Congratulations, Freddy!
