Our recent Q&A spotlighted 2021 Beckman Young Investigator Margaret Byron, PhD whose work at Pennsylvania State University focuses on “fluid dynamics of flexibility: deformable bio-structures for locomotion and sensing in complex flows.” When Margaret’s research led to a 3-week trip to conduct fieldwork in the San Juan Islands, Beckman Foundation approved use of BYI funds that enabled her to bring along her twin 4-year-olds and to provide them with childcare during their stay.
