Research Summary
Dr. Freeman completed her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at Vanderbilt University, where she studied the cell biology of coronaviruses.
She moved to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for Pediatrics Residency and Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship, where her current research interests include pathogenesis and cell biology of RNA viruses and advanced tissue modeling, with a current focus on enterovirus D68, the hypothesized cause of acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) in children.
