Biography
Dr. Gilmore lab’s long-standing research interest has been in the area of signal transduction and immune diseases, including human B-cell lymphoma and immunodeficiencies, and even the role that transcription factor NF-κB may play in environmental disease pathologies of marine invertebrates such as corals and sea anemones. Dr. Gilmore’s research has been supported by grants from the NIH, NSF, the American Cancer Society, and several private agencies. In addition to research papers, Dr. Gilmore has written numerous reviews on NF-κB, and his lab hosts the web site nf-kb.org. Dr. Gilmore has carried out his research primarily with an army of student trainees, including 27 PhD students, 43 MA students and over 100 undergraduates, and he has received Boston University’s highest awards for teaching and research. He has also championed undergraduate research, including serving as Director of the BU Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP), and being PI on long-term grants from the Beckman Foundation and NSF to support undergraduate research at BU.
